On Friday November 18, the George Brown women's volleyball team (4-2) won in three straight sets (25-11, 25-19, 25-14) against the Loyalists Lancers (2-3) on home court.
HOW IT HAPPENED:The Huskies were strong and confident straight out of the gate, taking the first set from the guest team by a commanding set score of 22-14.
The Lancers rallied during the second, but it did not prove to be enough. The Huskies calmness and strength at the net proved to be hard to contest for Loyalist. Taylor Grant (1st Year) and Jaque Ronquillo (1st Year) both contributed consistently to the scoreboard throughout the game, from start to finish, finishing with 10 and 15 points respectively.
At the end of the game, coach Daphne Choi said, "Ahead of the game we asked our athletes to be dynamic and move the ball in as many creative and resourceful ways as they could, and they did that tonight. Each and every athlete had a key impact in the game - it was wonderful to watch our athletes enjoying their sport."
UP NEXT: The Huskies continue their home game stand, taking on the Canadore Panthers (3-1) on Saturday November 26 at 6pm for the biggest matchup to date of the semester. With a win, the Huskies would jump ahead of the Panthers in the standings to hold 2nd place in the OCAA. Don't miss it!
