HOW IT HAPPENED – ALG: The Huskies entered this match after dropping their contest against the Loyalist Lancers on Feb 4 in five sets. The Wolves meanwhile were on a two-game win streak entering this game.

George Brown jumped out to an early lead after taking the first two sets 25-14 and 25-21. In the third set, the Wolves played a more balanced match while the Huskies made unforced errors that allowed the visitors to come away with the 25-20 set win. In the fourth set, both sides traded points with neither side allowing the other to get out to a large lead. In the end, the Huskies would win the set 25-20 and take the match 3-1.

Taylor Grant (1st Year) and Jaque Ronquillo (1st Year) combined for 29 kills on 75 total attempts scoring a total of 33 points. Ashley Lau (4th Year) ended the match with a game high 24 digs with some of those coming at crucial moments throughout the match. Nicole Agustin (2nd Year) finished the game with 36 assists.

HOW IT HAPPENED – LAC: On Saturday, the Huskies hosted the La Cite Coyotes at the Casa Loma Athletic Centre. The Coyotes pounced on the Huskies getting out to an early 1-0 lead after winning the first set 25-9. In the second set, the Huskies settled down and managed to take the set 25-21 tying the match at 1-1. In the third and fourth sets, the Coyotes played like a team who knew the importance of leaving Toronto with at least one win. La Cite would go on to win the match 3-1 after taking the third set 25-16 and the fourth set 25-18.

Jaque Ronquillo would finish the match with 18 points earning 15 kills on 59 total attempts and Ashley Lau would once again finish with a game high 27 digs.

Despite splitting the weekends games, this marks the most successful season for the George Brown women's volleyball program finishing the regular season 12-6.

UP NEXT: The Huskies will host the Niagara Knights (11-7) on Saturday February 18 at 1 pm at the Casa Loma Athletic Centre in a playoff crossover match where the winner will move on to play in the OCAA Provincial Championships hosted by Sheridan College in Oakville, Ontario from February 22-25. GRADUATING STUDENTS

George Brown College Athletics and Recreation would like to thank our graduating students for their commitment to the team over their Huskies careers. Our 2022-23 graduating Women's Volleyball student-athletes are:

# 7 Ashley Lau

A stalwart since joining the George Brown women's volleyball program in 2018, Ashley Lau has currently played in 61 matches for the Huskies. In her 4 seasons, the versatile player has collected 534 digs, 281 kills and 58 assists. Stats aside, her positive attitude and spirit has kept the group united. As an experienced veteran, Ashley brings an added level of professionalism to the team and has grown as a leader through her tenure with the Huskies.

Head coach, Daphne Choi on Lau, " her contribution to this team is nothing short of outstanding - she is one of the original group that helped propel the Huskies women's program to where it is today."
