HUSKIES WOMEN'S BASKETBALL FALL TO THE WOLVES

On their recent Eastern Ontario, road trip to the nation's capital, the George Brown women's basketball team (2-10) lost to the undefeated Algonquin Wolves (12-0) on Saturday afternoon (Feb 11) by a final score of 57-46.

HOW IT HAPPENED: The Huskies knew entering this contest they were in for a challenge being up against the top seed in the East. In the first quarter, the Wolves shot 47.1% from the field while the Huskies went 3 for 12 (25%) scoring just nine points. Algonquin would finish the first quarter with 20. In second quarter, the Huskies got into foul trouble sending the Wolves to the line eight times where they split making four (50%) and take a 37-22 lead into halftime. In the third quarter, the Huskies managed to put stress on the Wolves defense getting to line nine times going 6 for 9 (66.7%) and managed to split the quarter with the undefeated Wolves with 11 points. In the final quarter, the Huskies did manage to outscore the Wolves 13-9, but it would prove to be to late as Algonquin extended their win streak to 12 on the season.

Leading the way in scoring for the Huskies was Samuelle Hakh (2nd Year) who finished the game with 14 points, 11 rebounds and two steals. Minori Fukushi (1st Year) also added 10 points and four rebounds.


UP NEXT: The team will close out their season on Friday February 17 at the Casa Loma Athletic Centre at 6 pm against the St. Lawrence Surge (5-6).
